This page describes how SwapMyClass handles information in plain language. It is not legal advice and does not claim compliance with any specific privacy law unless your institution separately documents that.
What we collect
- Account and profile: email address, display name, university, active term, and optional Telegram connection when you choose to link it.
- Swap records: course sections you post as offered or desired, request status, and match history for your school and term.
- Notifications: delivery metadata needed to send email or Telegram alerts you opt into.
- Anonymous feedback: message text and timestamp only — not your user id or name on that feedback row.
Matched-only contact sharing
Your account email and linked Telegram username (when set) are shown only to other participants in a valid match with you. They are not published on public pages or broadcast to all students at your school.
How we use data
We use the information above to authenticate you, run matching for your university and term, show you swaps and matches, send notifications you enable, and keep the service secure. We do not sell your data. Optional donations never affect whether you can post, match, or see contact details.
Account deletion
You can delete your account from Profile. That removes your login and profile fields. Swap and match records may remain so other students keep an accurate history, but your name, email, and Telegram no longer appear — matched views show “Former participant” where relevant.
Security and limitations
We use industry-standard hosting and access controls, but no online service can guarantee perfect security. Do not share registrar passwords or sensitive credentials in swap messages.
Official registration
SwapMyClass does not reserve seats or perform official university registration. You remain responsible for add/drop rules, deadlines, and any approvals your school requires.
